the saga of the mirrors...
All my cars have had mirrors. This is their story.
- Summer 1998: The Corolla is bought.
- July 1998: Some neighborhood kids break into the car (granted, it
was unlocked), and steal the rearview mirror, along with the spork that hung
from it.
- A couple days later: My father affixes a new rearview mirror, but
it is pulled off by me the next morning because the weather had been too hot
for the glue to set properly.
- August 1998: Backing out of the driveway at an angle, I fail to clear
the side fence, which tears off the driver's side mirror.
- January 1999: The Corolla slides on black ice, flips over the front
bumper, and lands upside down in the snow. The car is totaled. The rearview
mirror falls off the windshield, and both side mirrors are destroyed when
the car is turned back over by the tow truck.
- March 1999: The Sable is bought.
- May 1999: Father accidentally pulls the rearview mirror off the windshield
as he attempts to adjust it. I get a few parking tickets because I am unable
to properly hang my hangtag. The rearview mirror is replaced and reaffixed.
- May-August 1999: The rearview mirror is pulled off numerous times,
and put up again just as many times.
- August 21, 1999: I am woken up by a call from the police. The car
was broken into during the night. The back left window is shattered, and the
driver's side mirror is destroyed.
- October 26, 2002: It's been a long time, but the trend cannot last.
The rearview gets pulled off yet again. Due to scheduling and incredible laziness
(no, I don't feel like reaffixing it in the dark), it lives on the seat of
the car until November 10.
- June, 2003: The Sable is sold, and the Alero is bought.
- January 28, 2005: The Alero is destroyed (not my fault!), and yet the mirrors remain intact. The Civic is then bought. Is this the end of the saga?!
