Elephant Float

This is one of the many floats at American Celebration on Parade at Shenandoah Caverns. It’s enormous and the baby elephant doesn’t actually look that much like Gonzo.

Desk Detritus

I have a lot of crap on my desk at work. One afternoon, while waiting for a program to run, I sketched a few of my knick-knacks: a plush “happy beer” I picked up at an anime convention years ago, a giant squid from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Disney Vinylmation Park Starz series), and a 3-D printed warrior my cubicle neighbor gave me when she went on maternity leave.

Hubs in a Hat

When my husband and I went to Disney World in 2015, I snapped a picture of him wearing a ridiculous hat from The Haunted Mansion. This past Inktober I sketched the photo. He’s not quite that fat in person, but all in all it’s not a bad likeness.

Selfie: Color Run

I participated in a Color Run and took a selfie afterward of the happy mess I’d become. A year later, when looking for photos to sketch during Inktober, I pulled this one out.

Charlie Chiang’s

My husband was out of town one evening so I took myself out to dinner at Charlie Chiang’s for the first time. It was quite good. I got some lo mein and some sushi and everything was delicious. Oof, I was so full. And while I was waiting for my food (and a bit while I was eating), I drew the lady who making sushi.

Butterflies

I’ve heard people say that when you’re drawing, every subject is interesting. I have found this to be strikingly untrue whenever waiting to have my car serviced. Thank heaven for National Geographic.

Artomatic 2016

DC Drink & Draw held a meetup at Artomatic 2016 in Potomac, Maryland. I drew the really cool installation I happened to be facing, and as luck would have it, the artist of said installation happened to be sitting at our table: Greg Benge! So I had him sign my art of his art. :)

Journal52- Week 34 – The End

This is as far as I made it through Journal52 2016. Over halfway – that’s actually really good, for me. I’m glad I gave it a go, though I don’t see myself trying again any time soon. This week’s prompt was “free for all”, meaning that we could draw whatever. So I drew my friend’s cat Errol. He’s rather large but very sweet.

Journal52 – Week 31

I like gray and green. I need to get more shades of each.

Journal52 – Week 29

This isn’t an especially good drawing; I just like how the colors turned out.
